ACTCOSS provides a range of services and projects to assist the development and sustainability of the ACT community sector. ACTCOSS has long advocated for additional resources and support to community organisations to ensure they remain viable and sustainable for the future so they can continue to provide support to people experiencing disadvantage when they need it most. ACTCOSS has been engaged in sector development work since 1999, and continues to provide range of support services through various programs and projects.
The objective of our sector development activities is to strengthen and support the development of an effective, cohesive and dynamic community sector in the ACT, and to assist the sector to meet the challenges of reform and changing community need through development assistance, networking, resources and training.

ACTCOSS engages in sector development through a variety of methods:- Professional Development Opportunities: ACTCOSS holds regular seminars on topics that help community sector managers and workers improve their capabilities in managing services and providing assistance. You can stay up-to-date with our seminars by visiting the seminars page.
- Consultancy Support: ACTCOSS offers consultancy support services that provide advice, resources and information on a range of issues relevant to community sector organisations, including managing staff, strategic planning, governance, evaluation, funding, standards and policy development. Any agency from any part of the community sector can seek assistance and advice from us.
- Networking Opportunities: ACTCOSS supports and participates in a number of Networks and Working Groups that provide opportunities for managers and workers to get to know each other, share their knowledge and work together for a stronger community sector.
- Community Sector Resources: ACTCOSS compiles and updates resources to help community organisations improve their operations and skills. A key repository of this knowledge is our Organisations Information Kit. We also have available a number of submissions and reports we have developed on issues affecting community organisations available to download.
- Sector Development Projects: ACTCOSS conducts regular sector development projects that focus on particular issues requiring attention or an area of need among community organisations. You can get details on some of our projects on our Programs & Projects page.
