1 Day Appreciation of Torres Strait Culture Awareness Training
Facilitated by Benny Hodges
This one-day training for both Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander and non-Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander workers aims to assist participants in developing a better understanding of the cultural perspectives of Torres Strait people in Australia. The training will explore ways for organisations to develop a better understanding of some key issues such as culture, kinship and community, and assists participants in developing and improving a range of cross-cultural communication skills.

Privacy and Confidentiality Seminar
Presented by Mary Durkin, Health Services Commissioner and Disability and Community Services Commissioner
Information on the Human Rights Commission will be presented, including how the Commission operates, processes and powers as well as case studies.
The Privacy Act and Personal Health Legislation will be explored and information on how these may affect the work of HACC and Disability Workers will be explored. The role of Health Services Commissioner and Disability and Community Services Commissioner will be articulated.

Legal Obligations
ACTCOSS Governance workshops are designed to meet the needs of people intending to become Board Members of not-for-profit organisations in the ACT. This training is designed for people who have never been on a board before or for those with limited experience. The workshops are interactive with participants contributing their own experiences and sharing knowledge, as well as a networking opportunity.
Legal Obligations
The aim of this seminar is to introduce participants to the basic legal obligations relevant to community sector organisations. This will include requirements of specific Board/Committee roles. The workshop will provide a brief overview of topics including legal responsibilities of board members, relevant legislation and core documents.

Holistic Stress Management
