The ACT Council of Social Service Inc. convened our biennial conference in 2016 with the theme ‘ACT 2020: Citizen Voice, Community Vision’.
We brought together people working in the community sector as staff, volunteers or board members, activists, researchers and policy makers to hear the diverse voices of people who live in Canberra, build a collective understanding of a community vision for the future of our city, and explore how we can work together to achieve this vision.

ACT Community Sector Awards 2016
The ACT Community Sector Awards were presented at the end of the first day of the conference at the Awards and Networking Event. Over 100 community people joined together to celebrate and acknowledge the achievements of community sector organisations and individuals.
In addition to the awards presentations, we heard from 666 ABC's Genevieve Jacobs as guest speaker and presenter, and enjoyed the music of the Gugan Gulwan Children’s Band.
The award recipients for 2016 were:
