Introduction to Media Engagement

Event date:
26 September 2018
Event time:
9.30am - 12.30pm
ACTCOSS Meeting Room, 1/6 Gritten St, Weston ACT 2611

The opportunities for stakeholder and media communications has never been more important or indeed more possible. Community organisations are in an excellent position to be able to communicate the strengths, assets and gifts of the community and the work we do with them.

But are we very good at promoting this work? Not always.

Is this a skill set we have traditionally placed value on or spent time developing? Not always.

Do you want to know more about designing thoughtful, meaningful and substantial communication approaches that align with your organisations objectives, remain consistent with your values, whilst appealing to the media?

Workshop content and audience

In this three-hour workshop Melanie Greenhalgh will guide you through:

  • Understanding the ‘why’ behind your stakeholder and media communications
  • Confident engagement with media outlets and beyond (including crises communications)
  • A step-by-step guide to preparing for TV, radio and other digital medium interviews (guaranteed to stop you from stumbling, feeling like you are going to stuff it up or making a poor impression)

This workshop is for emerging leaders and leaders who would like to develop new skills or take a refresher. All are welcome to come along, learn, share and create connections.
