ACTCOSS is proud to partner with Companion House on cross-cultural communication and interpreter services for community sector workers.
Improving the cultural competence of community services in the ACT requires the tailoring of services to ensure that the needs of people of migrant and refugee background have equality of access and outcomes when engaging with us.
ACTCOSS recognises there is a need and appetite to understand this better.
We are proud to partner with Companion House to present this online session that considers some key principles of communicating with people and clients from diverse language and cultural backgrounds.
We will also focus on using interpreters - when, how, and why we use them, dealing with challenges when using interpreters - and will include practical experience.
When booking please let us know if you would be willing to participate in a short, fun, practical exercise using interpreters.
This session will happen ONLINE via ZOOM. The meeting details and information regarding how to join will be sent to registered participants via email before the event.
