Anti-Poverty Week is around the corner!

30 September 2022

Anti-Poverty Week (APW) will be held across Australia from the 16th to the 22nd of October 2022. This Anti-Poverty Week we are calling on all our Parliamentarians to commit to halve child poverty by 2030. This means we can meet our international commitments to the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and UN Global Goals (Sustainable Development Goals).

The ACT has the highest average weekly earnings in Australia, and yet around one in 10 Canberrans - or 38,000, including 9,000 children - live in poverty.

We need to increase awareness of the scale of child poverty, community poverty and the housing and cost of living crises to drive action and change.

Poverty exists. Poverty hurts us all. We can all do something about it.
