This submission was made in response to a consultation paper on the development of a national Digital Economy Strategy. The consultation paper defines the digital economy as ‘the range of economic and social activities enabled by information and communications technologies’. Drawing on insights from ACTCOSS research into telecommunications affordability, the submission highlights the need for the Digital Economy Strategy to address the needs of the people most at risk of digital exclusion. ACTCOSS’ submission also advocates for building a stronger relationship between a growing community services industry and the digital economy in order to improve access and outcomes in our community.
