The Industry Participation Policy (IPP) recognises that local participation in government contracting is critical to the growth and security of the private sector in the ACT. The IPP aims to support building the capacity of local firms, and to recognise the significant positive economic contribution of those businesses willing to invest in the local economy.
The current framing of the policy does not include consideration of the importance of procurement policy and practices to the growth and security of community sector organisations that provide essential human services.
This letter provides advice on the community services industry in the ACT and recommends improvements to the IPP to ensure community sector organisations benefit from the IPP.
