In this submission ACTCOSS addresses issues of concern around the provision of social housing in the ACT.
ACTCOSS calls for reviews of internal procedures to address issues around communication; application processes; accessibility; maintenance; and support for social housing staff.
ACTCOSS advocates for a continued increase of social housing stock in Canberra, to a level of at least 10% of housing stock.
The long term strategy in the development and acquisition of properties must be to provide the majority of social housing properties in proximity to amenities such as public transport, schools, shops and community facilities.
