Woden Community Service (WCS) is a for-purpose organisation that has been providing community-based services for 50 years. Our vision is ‘A vibrant and connected community’, achieved through our values of Hope, Community, Integrity and Responsiveness.
WCS provides a wide range of services covering a cross-section of the community from children, families, young people and seniors, including disability, housing, and mental health services.
This is a temporary role from 2 December 2019 to 10 January 2020, at our Lyon’s Early Childhood School. In this role you will be responsible for ensuring the following:
Preparation of morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea and late afternoon tea for children aged birth to 5 years;
Preparation of lunch orders for children in preschool to year 2;
Preparation of cakes for children’s birthdays and occasional staff meetings/functions;
Ensuring the specific food requirements for all children are met (e.g. appropriate alternative meals for children with allergies);
Upholding appropriate kitchen practice including food storage, food processing, kitchen cleaning and sanitation, and personal hygiene and safety;
Devising weekly shopping lists for the assigned weekly menus;
Updating menus with appropriate healthy recipes when needed based on the traffic light system from Nutrition Australia; and
Producing monthly rotational menus for winter/summer
To be successful in this role, you must have the following requirements
Current ACT Working with Vulnerable Peoples Check;
Experience in menu planning, ordering and working in a team and with other staff;
Food Handling Certificate; and
Food Safety Supervision Certificate.
